Year 3 2023 - 2024

Mr Orr-McGuinness

Welcome to the Year 3 class of 2023-24!

Welcome back! I hope you all had a wonderful break over Christmas and are full of energy to attack 2024 with everything you've got!

Your PE days are Monday and Wednesday. Please come to school dressed in your PE kits on these days.

I look forward to seeing you all.

Mr Orr-McGuinness

Message to Parents / Carers

Dear Parents / Carers,

I am Mr Orr-McGuinness and It is my absolute honour and privilege to educate your child. I take this responsibility extremely seriously and look forward to working closely with you all this year.

Apart from being the Year 3 class teacher, I am also the Assistant Head and Special Educational Needs Coordinator at St Mary's.

My ultimate aim this year is to ensure every child in my class achieves their absolute true potential. Although this is going to be a busy and intense year, the mental health and wellbeing of your child is my priority.

Whilst trying to make learning as fun and interactive as possible, I have a no-nonsense approach to behaviour and will demand the absolute best from each child.

In  the morning time, although I want to, I am unable to chat with parents at the door . Please don't think I'm being rude by not engaging with you but I have to ensure the safety of all children under my supervision. If you have any questions or queries in the morning, staff members will be available to pass messages on to me. If you need to speak to me personally though, please leave a message with the school office and I will call you back when I am free.

I look forward to getting to know you all this year!

Mr Orr-McGuinness

School start / end times

The school day starts at 8.30am. School ends at 3pm.

When arriving at school, please ensure you complete the activities on the board.

Coats / bags

Apart from your lunch and coat, there is no need to bring anything else with you as I will provide all resources required so please try to refrain from bringing bags or anything else unless absolutely necessary.

PE

PE takes place on a Monday and Wednesday. Please ensure you arrive at school in your PE kit.

TIMES TABLES / SPELLINGS / READING

Every Friday you will be tested on your times tables and spellings. You will be expected to practice them at home and achieve 10 out of 10 each week. Don't worry though, I have a unique skill of knowing the difference between a child who has practiced and performed badly and a child who hasn't practiced at all. Please ensure you have had your reading record signed for me to look at by Friday.

I promise that if you've tried your best, you will never get in trouble with me!

We put our trust in God to take us on this exciting journey together throughout this year!
