We have had a great week this week in Year 5 that began with our Growth Mindset day (you can find out more about this on our newsletter.)  Here the children learnt some great life skills which they have applied as the week has gone on.  Keep this up!

In English we have been focussing on grammar through our class book and also looking at persuasive arguments both spoken and written surrounding the idea of stealing which has linked directly into the book but also our 10 Commandments work in RE.  There was so great debates and arguments put forward and I was blown away by the depth of thought and reasoning.

In maths we have been looking at puzzles and problems using multplication and our hexagons and pentagons even drafted and tested some rules that the rest of us checked by applying them to predict the answer to multiplication calculations.  I'm pleased to say these were correct so well done! We even made some "How To" guides in ICT to support others doing multiplication and some were even shown in assembly.  Well done to Daisy and Liam for some detailed instructions here.

It has been a great week for sport with half of Year 5 attending a sports festival on Wednesday afternoon.  I was very proud of you all and heard great things from Mrs Poynton.  What a lot of fun you had!  I was also lucky enough to watch my Year 5 boys represent the school at football.  I had no idea how talented you all were, I was extremely proud.  It was also great to see so many parents there and catch up with you all.

Please keep going with Mathletics and Spellodrome.  Our class came second in the whole school points scoring battle so well done!  Special mentions go to Sebastian, Julia, Marianne, Ellie and William for their score, participation and effort. Keep it up!
