Message to Parents / Carers
I am Mr Orr-McGuinness and, apart from being the Assistant Head of St Mary's and the Special Educational Needs Coordinator, I am the Year 4 class teacher this year.
It is my absolute honour and privilege to educate your child and I take this responsibility extremely seriously.
After the last few testing years, it is my aim to ensure every child achieves their absolute true potential.
This is going to be a busy and intense term but the mental health and wellbeing of your child is my priority so will be taking Wellbeing sessions throughout each week.
Whilst trying to make learning as fun and interactive as possible, I have a no-nonsense approach to behaviour and will demand the absolute best from each child.
In the morning time, although I want to, I am unable to chat with parents at the door . Please don't think I'm being rude by not engaging with you but I have to ensure the safety of all children under my supervision. If you have any questions or queries in the morning, Mrs Shaw will be available to pass messages on to me. If you need to speak to me, please leave a message with her and I will call you back when I am free. Alternatively, please send an email to the office and I will always reply to you.
I look forward to getting to know you all this year!

School start / end times
You can start to arrive at school at 8.30am and will be expected to complete the activity set until everyone arrives.
Coats / bags
Apart from your lunch and coat, there is no need to bring anything else with you as I will provide all resources required so please try to refrain from bringing bags or anything else unless absolutely necessary.
PE
PE takes place on a Monday and Wednesday. Please ensure you arrive at school in your PE kit.
TIMES TABLES / SPELLINGS / READING
Every Friday you will be tested on your times tables and spellings. You will be expected to practice them at home and achieve 10 out of 10 each week. Don't worry though, I have a unique skill of knowing the difference between a child who has practiced and performed badly and a child who hasn't practiced at all. Please ensure you have had our reading record signed for me to look at by Friday.
I promise that if you've tried your best, you will never get in trouble with me!
We put our trust in God to take us on this exciting journey together throughout this year!
