First week of Spring 1

Date: 11th Jan 2018 @ 11:48am

Welcome back!

It feels like a while ago since I have written one of these.  I hope you've all had a fantastic Christmas and a wonderful start to 2018.  We have had an exciting first week full of lots of intrege, mystery and of course ...fun!

In English the children discovered a slime encased suitcase with various odd items inside.  We have been making predictions and drawing inferences and conclusions about the items, where they come from and what they have to do with "The Water Tower."  Take a look at our pictures on the class page and chat about this at home.

In Maths we have looked at division using the bus stop method with remainders and turning them into fractions.  We have also looked at TUxTU and had lots of practice and support with this.  We eventually got to move on to applying these skills to word problems, puzzles and problems.  All the children showed real grit and determination with special mentions to Harry, Euan, Marianne, Lewis and Zuzanna for sticking with it, your hard work paid off.

In ICT and Geography we have been looking at India and creating postcards as well as looking at atlases to find the physical and human features of the country and who it borders with etc.

RE has been a real joy to learn about who inspires the children in their day to day lives.  They showed so much maturity and courage sharing thier stories with us before looking at the Bible to take further inspiration. We have also completed our New Year prayer trail that was led by the hard working pupil chaplains.  Thank you to those children for their hard work.

Science saw us setting fire to things which caused much excitement! We looking at burning as an irreversible change and what products were produced, even ones we couldn't see.

Once again I would like to take the time to thank all parents for their continued support with the children's learning journey and also support of Mrs Poynton and I in school. It is much appreciated and we thank you.
