Week number 5

Date: 6th Oct 2017 @ 7:56am

Our History topic has gone up a gear as we had our guest speaker this week (Mrs Jones) who talked about her experiences in World War II.  We all wrote our own questions during the week as we experienced music from the era and had some lessons in Lindy Hop war time moves thanks to Isabelle Leather.  We also looked at the Anderson shelters and what people would need in them and why with some beautiful work from all the class when drawing and labelling.

Our Science topic has produced some fantastic posters looking at animals and their habitats as well as the food chain of the habitat.  We have now begun to look at more complex life cycles that include Metamorphasis and comparing and contrasting various species.

In English we have worked long and hard on our creative narratives of an evacuee during WWII and honed our skills of drafting and editing.  The results have been incredible with very detailed and moving stories from you all.  However, William Cummins and Chloe Lupton deserve a special mention for their extra effort in the re-drafting process and how they included our weeky sentence rule and showstopper sentence.  Well done!

In RE, we looked at what it meant to be good wards and stewards our God's earth and what happend when we deglect those duties.  This came together with some fantastic letter writing to Middlewich Council to discuss issues surrounding litter and local community eco drives.

To top off our week, we had our languages assembly with some extremely brave class members taking to the front to speak in different languages.  You had some excellent pronunciation and even better accents.  We were all very proud of you.  The same has to be said for our Eco team class members who delivered an excellent Harvest assembly to the whole school.  Thank you so much Eco team.

I wonder what next week will bring?

We have maths week to look forward to during the 16th October when we have the puzzle company coming in as well as our end of theme for our RE topic so there is still lots of fun and hard work to be had.
