Year 5 and 4 Science week

Date: 2nd Jul 2018 @ 4:21pm

Our topic as a whole school for Science Week is plastics.  We have spent the day looking at properities of plastics in Year 5 and designing our own enquiries based around our own questions that we generated.  We looked at durability, whether items were maliable or water resistant and various other investigations from which we drew conclusions about plastics and their uses.  This also made us realise the impact over usage of plastics have as they do not biodegrade and have a long lasting footprint.  We have then mixed with the Year 4 children to create our own polymers with pva glue, Borax and water and looked at the properties and uses of what we created and went in search for the perfect slime.  The afternoon consisted of us reusing plastic bags to create art work and banners when the bags were fused toegtehr with heat.  What a busy day!
