Year 5 W/B 9th October

Date: 13th Oct 2017 @ 7:39am

As half term creeps ever closer we show no signs of slowing down in Year 5.

In literacy we have looked at the key features of a script and how it is different from a narrative and why including layout and punctuation.  We read through various scripts working up to the big performance on Friday of our "Evacuation" script.

In maths we have looked at puzzles, problems and investigations to get us in the right mindset for next week and our maths week where we will be looking at code breaking like an Enigma expert.  Our maths homework this week focus' on investigative thinking so you can support this at home too (the sheet is on the class page as well as your child having a paper copy.)

For RE, we have continued to think about God's wonderful world and have been putting together our end of theme performance for the last week which will show case the efforts of the children during the RE topic. We also had the pleasure of Year 5 having mass this Thursday in chapel which was such a special time for them to share together with each other, parishiners and parents.

Once again I have been amazed be the artistic flare in the room for our digital Guernica images and paint and pastel effect the children have created.  Miss L Macey and Miss Burton have also highly praised the children's efforts this week in PE and swimming and noted various individuals determination and resillience.  Well done!

Special mentions this week go to Elijah and Ty for their improved attitude to handwriting and presentation which has shone through and I'm very proud.  Also to Grace, William,  Lewis and Reuban for their superb acting performances as well as Zuzanna and Sienna for their exceptional comprehension skills using a non-fiction text in reading sessions.

Well done all of you!

Looking forward to maths week next week.

Well done to all those who achieved the Spellodrome certificates and also attempted the online Reading task. You all did amazingly.  Keep it up!
